Cash App's own help center confirms: service availability is limited to the United States and United Kingdom. Last checked April 2026. Pesito column shows planned launch pricing, not yet available. Your recipient's bank may charge its own fees, and foreign taxes may apply. A store's cash-out fee, if any, is passed through at cost and shown before you confirm.

Why Cash App never adds Mexico

Cash App is an absurdly well-built US product, and that product-market fit is why it hasn't expanded. Cross-border remittance is a different business: different licenses in each country, different compliance regimes, different fraud patterns, different cash-in and cash-out rails. Block, Cash App's parent, has publicly prioritized domestic expansion (Cash App Green, Cash Card Boost, Bitcoin integration) over international.

If you're a Mexican in the US, Cash App works for splitting an Uber with your US friends. It does not work for the Friday transfer home. The trust model, honestly

Cash App's clearest trust line is: *"Cash App is a financial services platform, and not an FDIC-insured bank."* FDIC pass-through only applies when you have a Cash App Card or are part of a Sponsored Account: Bitcoin and the standard Cash App Balance are explicitly not covered.

Pesito's analogue: we are Aztlan Software, Inc., a United States technology company, not a bank, not authorized or supervised by the CNBV or any other Mexican financial authority. Pesito is pre-launch; when the service launches, balances are planned to be held in custody at licensed financial institutions in Mexico, with you as the beneficial owner. Balances will not be covered by IPAB (Mexico's deposit-insurance scheme) because Pesito does not take deposits in the legal sense a chartered bank does.

Can I use Cash App to send money to Mexico?

No. Cash App is US/UK-only. You cannot send Cash App balance to anyone in Mexico, and Mexican residents cannot open a Cash App account. For US → Mexico, join the Pesito waitlist: Pesito is pre-launch and being built specifically for this corridor.

Does my Mexican family need a Cash App account?

They can't open one: Cash App is not available in Mexico. Pesito is pre-launch: when it launches, the plan is that your family opens a Pesito account, gets a $PesitoID, and can keep the money in Pesito, withdraw it to any Mexican bank via SPEI ($0 at standard speed), or, as a planned feature, take it out as cash at OXXO and local stores, 45,000+ locations across Mexico. No bank account required to receive. Transfers will be subject to identity verification, corridor availability, limits, and compliance review.

Is Pesito like a Mexican Cash App?

The mental model is similar, $0 domestic P2P between Pesito users within the same country (planned), handle-based payments, holding a balance without a bank account (planned), and a card on the roadmap. The business model is similar too: moving money costs $0, and the business is where money sits and how it is spent. The mechanics are different: Pesito is being purpose-built for cross-border flows, with $0 standard withdrawals by SPEI and planned cash in/out at OXXO and local stores for Mexico. Think of Pesito as the Cash App Mexican users are finally getting to build, currently pre-launch.

Does Pesito have a Cash Card equivalent?

A Pesito debit card for the Mexican wallet is on the roadmap but is not available: Pesito itself is pre-launch. The planned withdrawal path is SPEI to a Mexican CLABE, $0 at standard speed, which works with any Mexican debit card tied to a bank account.

Is my Pesito balance FDIC insured?

No. Pesito is not a bank and is not FDIC insured. Pesito is pre-launch; when the service launches, the plan is that customer dollars sit in an account held for the benefit of customers at a licensed US financial institution. Any pass-through coverage depends on that agreement, which is not signed yet, so we do not write "insured". We're explicit about this because we think you deserve the truth up front, the way Cash App is explicit that its standard balance isn't FDIC either.

How is Pesito's planned pricing different from Xoom's?

Xoom (PayPal's international remittance product) charges $3.99 to $7.99 per transfer plus an FX markup of 2 to 4%. Pesito's planned launch pricing is $0 and 0% FX on the Pesito network: send $50 and all $50 gets converted, send $2,000 and all $2,000 gets converted, at a mid-market rate average with no Pesito margin as a design commitment; any rate margin would appear as a separate, disclosed line item. A standard withdrawal to a Mexican bank is $0 too. The separate 1% US excise tax on cash-funded remittances is a tax, not a Pesito fee, and Pesito's planned debit/ACH funding is designed to fall outside it.
