What is Puente Railway?
Puente Railway is our in-house financial infrastructure, the plumbing Pesito plans to use to move money between accounts. We build and operate it ourselves rather than renting a rail from a third party. This page exists because we believe you deserve to know, in plain English, what would actually happen under the hood when you tap "Send", without marketing fluff and without hiding technical names you'll find anyway in the app's fine print.
Pesito is pre-launch. Transfers are not yet available. This page describes the planned settlement model, which may change before launch. We will publish the final list of partner institutions and asset issuers on this site before launch.
What you'll see.
Your Pesito balance will be in Mexican pesos (MXN) and, optionally, in US dollars (USD). That's what you'll load, send, receive, and withdraw. You'll never see blockchain, never buy a digital asset, never sign a crypto transaction. Pesito is not a crypto wallet.
What would happen underneath.
Under the planned model, when a transfer crosses between two Pesito accounts, on the intermediate leg, value would move using two digital assets of this kind:
These assets would be used only as an internal settlement vehicle. You would never buy them, never sell them, never hold them. They would be redeemed 1:1 for the pesos or dollars in your balance before you ever touch anything. The specific issuers and partner institutions will be named on this site before launch.
Why we're building it this way.
The traditional banking system charges a fee on every leg: a typical remittance passes through 3 to 5 institutions (sender bank, sponsor, correspondent, receiver bank, local agent). Each takes a slice as fee or FX margin. Modern digital settlement rails are designed for fast settlement with fewer per-leg fees. That cost doesn't grow with the size of the transfer, which is what lets us plan to charge $0 and 0% FX on the Pesito network, domestic or international: send $25 or $2,000 and all of it gets converted, and build Pesito with no FX spread: our reference is a mid-market rate average at quote time, and any rate margin would appear as a separate, disclosed line item, never hidden inside the rate.
Planned launch pricing, not yet available. Final pricing is always shown in the app before you pay and may change before launch. A standard withdrawal to your own bank is $0; an instant withdrawal is optional and priced next to the $0 option. Your recipient's bank may charge its own fees, and foreign taxes may apply. A store's cash-out fee, if any, is passed through at cost and shown before you confirm.
What this does NOT mean.
